A significant milestone for China's agricultural biotechnology sector was achieved on June 16 with the official inauguration of the Key Laboratory of Biostimulants and Functional Fertilizers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) at SEAWIN Biotech Group.

The inauguration ceremony and the first meeting of the Laboratory's Academic Committee brought together leading scientists, industry experts, government representatives, and research institutions to promote innovation in biostimulants, functional fertilizers, and sustainable agricultural technologies.

The establishment of the laboratory represents an important step in implementing China's innovation-driven agricultural development strategy. During the ceremony, Mr. Shan Junwei, Chairman of SEAWIN Biotech Group, welcomed distinguished guests and emphasized the laboratory's mission to strengthen original innovation, address key industry challenges, and build an open academic ecosystem that transforms marine biotechnology into practical agricultural solutions.

Official Launch of the MARA Key Laboratory of Biostimulants and Specialty Fertilizer

The laboratory was officially inaugurated by representatives from the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs together with SEAWIN Biotech Group, marking the formal commencement of its research activities.

Following the inauguration, Professor Xu Minggang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed Chairman of the Academic Committee.

Professor Xu noted that biostimulants and functional fertilizers have become essential technologies for improving soil health, enhancing crop resilience, and supporting China's strategy of "storing grain in the land and through science and technology." He emphasized that the committee will guide the laboratory in advancing fundamental research, technology innovation, standard development, and industry collaboration.

Before the ceremony, invited experts visited the newly established laboratory together with SEAWIN's intelligent manufacturing facilities.
